I am my shingle roof and Replacing galvanized gutters and downspout. My house IS Almost 100 years old I am Deciding Between Buckingham Slate or Synthetic Eco-Star. The price difference is $ 2700. Also I am Deciding Between Aluminum or Copper Gutters and downspout. The price difference is $ 2750. From my reading here and there, I think I (my roof) Will Be OK with Synthetci Slate purpose if the money Was Not isse year (wihsful thinking) Which one i would use? My roofer Said It Was His house if ET Would use the ones for Synthetic Gutters and downspout, from what i Understand the look of copper IS Much nicer (Especially one year old brick house like mine). Also I read The Copper That Does not rust and I do not Have To worry about maintenance? is this right? How about the Tarnishing? I read some where the green tarnish That IS good for copper Even aim how about the look of it? Do the copper Gutters and downspout still look good After FEW years to justify the extra expensive? Thanks!

A couple things you need to consider….Slate lasts forever, I would imagine any reputable roofer will offer a guarantee..get one!
Synthetic slate roofs offer the same quality as real slate with the obvious differences, but a natural slate roof will add to the value of your home, might even off-set the cost in the long run.
Copper affords lifetime value as-well, and again will add to the value of your home. The oxidation, or green patina you see protects the copper and is the ‘desired’ look….As someone with vast experience restoring old homes, my best advice would be to go with the natural and copper, as in the long run it will add to the esthetics’s, as well as monetary value of your home…Good Luck !!
